REN tread pads are engineered to be rinsed after each use.  Normal maintenance cleaning provides approximately 10 uses per pad.

Most common practice is once per week, however depending on escalator traffic, such as public transit, use of REN can be daily cleaning.

If the brush guards are mounted too low and close to the treads you may need to use a smaller device so as to avoid the brush guards altogether and not interfere with the escalators operation.  Most likely there is enough clearance for the pad and holder. Simply place the pad holder on an angle and allow it to travel back towards the combs, align and square against the combs and drop into the tread grooves.  See here for a demonstration: https://youtu.be/9yeiJb29d6w
